About this walk

This 7.5 km circular walk sets out from Acle in the heart of the Norfolk Broads, tracing a gentle loop between village lanes, quiet field edges and the waterways that define this part of Norfolk. With only around 47 metres of ascent, it makes for an easy half-day outing, though the mixed surfaces and length place it on the moderate side.

Starting near the Acle Bridge Inn, the route heads inland past the peaceful Secret Garden before joining paths that lead towards the medieval church of Saint Mary, one of Norfolk's characteristic round-towered churches. From here you pass Acle Methodist Church in the village centre, a reminder of Acle's long-standing role as a local hub, before striking out along Acle Dyke where reeds, moored boats and open Broadland skies come into view.

The return leg links back towards the River Bure, with the option to pause at village inns such as The Kings Head Inn or The White Horse. Neighbouring parishes of Saint Edmund King and Martyr and Saint Margaret lie within easy reach for anyone wanting to extend the day.
