Abernethy to Newburgh

This gentle linear walk of just under 5 kilometres links the villages of Abernethy and Newburgh in Perth and Kinross, following quiet ways through a soft corner of the Tay valley. Setting off from Abernethy, you pass the Crees Inn near the heart of the village before picking up the route north-eastwards, with the Ochil foothills rising behind you.

Along the way there are several small points of interest worth pausing for, including the Abernethy Garden Feature, Nurse Peattie's Garden and the wooded corner around Gillies Burn. The site of Ballomill and nearby Powrie Park add further reasons to slow down and look about, before the path leads on towards Newburgh and its Victory Fountain, a fitting marker to end the walk.

With only around 90 metres of ascent spread over the distance, this is an easy outing suitable for most walkers, and can be comfortably completed in a little over an hour. A regular bus service linking the two villages makes the linear route straightforward to plan without a car.
