About this walk
Starting from the village of Beddgelert, this circular walk sets off past St Mary's church and follows the Afon Glaslyn as it threads through the famous Aberglaslyn Pass. The river tumbles between steep, wooded slopes before the route turns inland to climb into the quieter valley of Cwm Bychan.
Here you pass the atmospheric remains of the Cwm Bychan Copper Mine mill and the Nantmor mine workings, industrial relics now softened by moss and mountain grass. The path rises to the rocky ridge of Grib Ddu, opening out wide views across the Snowdonia hills before descending towards the Afon Goth.
The return leg drops past the Sygun Copper Mine and through the woodland of Coed Cae-du, with Llyn Dinas glimpsed below and the legendary hillfort of Dinas Emrys rising nearby. Mynydd Sygyn, Tŵr Bryn Du and Beddau'r Dewiniaid all lie within easy reach, making this a compact but richly varied loop through the heart of Eifionydd.
