About this walk
Starting from Abberley village, this 7.4 km route climbs steadily into the wooded ridges of the Abberley Hills, gaining just over 400 m of ascent across its length. The path leads up past the Old Church of St Michael, a quiet reminder of the village's medieval roots, before continuing along the ridgeline towards Shavers End.
From here the walk crosses Abberley Hill itself, one of the higher points in this corner of Worcestershire, with views opening out over the surrounding countryside and the wider Severn valley beyond. The route then drops down through The Hill and returns via the lanes into Abberley, finishing near the village green with the nearby church of St Mary and The Common close at hand.
At around 2 hours 15 minutes of walking, it's a satisfying half-day outing rated moderate for its sustained climbs and undulating woodland tracks. Good boots are recommended, and there are pleasant spots to pause at both ends of the route.
