About this walk
This 3.4 km circular begins at West Bexington, a quiet hamlet tucked behind the shingle bank of Chesil Beach on Dorset's Jurassic Coast. Despite its modest length, the walk packs in 163 m of ascent, so expect a proper pull up from the shore before the route levels out onto higher ground with sweeping views along the coast.
From the beach car park you head inland and upward, passing the memorial to Corporal Neil Martin Blain before the path leads you by The Manor House, a handsome landmark set in the folds of the hillside. The return leg brings you gradually back down towards Hive Beach and the shingle at West Bexington, with Lyme Bay stretching away to the west.
Nearby Upper Tamarisk offers a natural extension if you fancy lingering, but the loop as described takes around an hour at a steady pace. It's a compact taste of the Dorset coast: sea air, big skies, and a solid climb to earn the view.
