An elegant Essex experience with Konect Bus!
A fab itinerary for a great day, where Colchester and Clacton combine for a real treat of a trip!Stoll round Castle Park, Colchester
Start your scenic sojourn by soaking in this lovely retreat, enjoying the paths past flowerbeds and Roman Walls, with the famous castle as a backdrop. Stop off for a takeaway coffee and pastry from ‘Cafe in the Park’, then take a wander through the Dutch Quarter’s cobbled lanes, lined with colourful houses and small independent shops, before making your way to board the bus.

Board the 74 bus to Wivenhoe in Colchester Head Street (Stop Ea)
It’s a brisk scenic journey, as the bus leaves behind the hustle and bustle of Colchester through classic and charming Essex countryside, with a sense of anticipation as the coast gets closer!
Alight in Wivenhoe (outside Co Op) and wander round this delightful town
Walk down the Quay and along the pretty River Colne, past pastel cottages, old boatyards and down the waterfront park. There may still be time for a quick coffee at The Black Buoy or the Wivenhoe Bookshop and Cafe – a lovely indie bookshop with a tucked away coffee spot. Alternatively, the Corner House Coffee Shop (see below) in the High Street, is a real treat!

Back on-board the 74 bus (outside Co Op) to St Osyth
Tree lined winding roads and lovely fields dominate the landscape as the bus makes its way on this eye-catching journey.

Get off the bus at St Oysth (opposite The Red Lion).
Check out serene St Osyth Priory, admiring its grand gatehouse and resident deer from the lane. Maybe wander down Mill Street past old cottages to the waterfront where boats rest on the creek. Perhaps enjoy a pint at the Red Lion, next to the bus stop.

Onto the 74 again, opposite The Red Lion, to Clacton
The seaside beckons and the coastal capers of classic Clacton, with its sense of fun and tradition. To Pier Avenue the bus makes its way – the epicentre of this barnstorming town!

Alight the bus at PIer Avenue, Clacton and explore the delights of Clacton
Walk along the seaside promenade and enjoy the famous Pier – even out of season, there’s a certain elegance and charm about it as well as a buzz! Take a wander through the nearby Gardens and then devour the delights of the beach towards Holland-on-Sea. Fish and Chips at Marine Parade is highly recommended too! ‘The Hook of Clacton’ is particularly sumptuous!

There’s nothing more relaxing than a stroll through the village lanes, and a stop by the delightful Parish Church of St James. This really is a gem of a village – an unsung hero in the shadows of bright lights of Clacton!
Back on-board the 76 to Colchester
Arrive in Colchester (Head Street) where evening fun beckons...
Take a walk through the narrow lanes around Eld Lane and Trinity Street, where there are some great pubs and maybe enjoy dinner at Greyfriars, a refined restaurant in a former Georgian townhouse. Drinks afterwards at Three Wise Monkeys, where there is a always a buzz and tasty craft beers is great or catch a show at the Mercury Theatre.
