Kathryn Pepper explains '"As recording artists ourselves who were inspired by Joni Mitchells music, we have huge
respect for Joni as a songwriter, musician and singer.. it been a challenge and a absolute joy to deliver the music to the
Joni fans want to hear, its a thrill for us to see their reaction.. which is often very emotional.. this is the soundtrack to
their lives and so we deliver Joni's music faithfully and respectfully. We hold Joni Mitchell's music in the utmost
regard and so we aim to capture its inner spirit and channel its majesty into each live performance. We treat the show
as a recital of Master Works.. not a reimagining or reinterpretation. We are staying true to Joni Mitchell's vision for
her music"
'This Flight Tonight' is a celebration of Joni Mitchell's music that the duo has had in the making for many years,
established in early 2023 and touring extensively thereafter. The carefully crafted set list will feature songs from Joni's
million-selling albums such as 'Song To A Seagull', 'Clouds', 'Ladies of the Canyon', 'For The Roses', 'Court and Spark',
'Hissing of Summer Lawns' and 'Hejira' featuring many cuts from her 1971 landmark release 'Blue'.
Paul Zervas performs Joni Mitchell's intricate guitar work: "Joni's music has so much depth, musically, lyrically and
melodically, there's so much to get your head around when attempting to recreate this classic songbook.. As a guitarist
who learned to play from listening to Joni's incredible catalog, it's just staggering the sheer amount of alternate
tunings, variances of chord positions and nuanced harmonic voicing that have gone into all these songs. We aim to be
as authentic as possible when performing this music as it's these important facets that the fans want to hear, with
Joni's music the tunings, chord voicing are as important as her lyrics, its the interplay between to two that create the
full picture of Mitchell's evocative landscape."
Kathryn explains the arc of the show.. "We've thought long and hard about the type of show we ourselves would love to
see as lifelong fans of Joni Mitchell's music. We kept returning to what we consider to be the nucleus of Mitchell's work,
that pivotal break-out period 1968-1976 Reprise/Asylum Record era with the Voice, Guitar Dulcimer and Piano front
and centre.
A show that travels from Joni's 'Folk Club/Coffee House' era into Joni's more expensive full band albums, with Bass and
Electric Guitar coming to the fore. The carefully crafted set list will feature songs from Joni's million-selling albums such
as 'Song To A Seagull', 'Clouds', 'Ladies of the Canyon', 'For The Roses', 'Court and Spark', 'Hissing of Summer Lawns'
and 'Hejira' will a full and comprehensive performance of Joni Mitchell iconic 1971 release.. 'Blue'".
'Blue' is regarded by critics and audiences as a masterpiece. Raw in its emotional honesty whilst hopeful and carefree.. a
culmination of a decade of living and loving through a period of social change.
