Get ready for a spectacular weekend by the sea as Bridlington Kite Festival returns on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 May 2027. Free to attend and packed with family-friendly entertainment, this much-loved event has become one of the most popular spring festivals on the East Yorkshire coast.

Organised by the Visit East Yorkshire events team at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the festival transforms the cliff tops at Sewerby, near Bridlington, into a vibrant outdoor celebration filled with colour, excitement and unforgettable aerial displays.

A Sky Full of Colour Above Bridlington Bay

From 10am to 5pm each day, visitors can watch an extraordinary collection of kites soar high above Bridlington Bay. Some of the world's largest inflatable kites will take to the skies, creating a breathtaking spectacle against the coastal backdrop.

Expect to see kites in every shape, size and colour, including giant bears, twisting snakes and a host of larger-than-life characters that bring the skyline to life. Each year, internationally renowned kite flyers captivate thousands of spectators with impressive demonstrations and expertly choreographed displays.

A festival favourite, the parachuting teddy bear drop, will also be making its return, delighting visitors of all ages.

Fun for the Whole Family

Bridlington Kite Festival offers much more than fantastic kite displays. Families can get involved with supervised have-a-go kite flying sessions, where visitors can borrow a kite and experience the thrill of flying one themselves. Kites will also be available to purchase from specialist stalls throughout the event.

Alongside the aerial entertainment, there will be plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained, including:

• Children's fairground rides
• Face painting
• Giant bubble fun
• An inflatable obstacle course
• Family-friendly entertainment and activities

Food, Drink and Festival Atmosphere

Whether you're planning a full day out or simply stopping by to enjoy the displays, you'll find plenty of refreshments on site. A variety of street food vendors will be serving up tasty options, while dessert stalls, hot and cold drinks, and traditional ice cream vans provide treats for all ages.

Visitors are also welcome to bring their own picnic and enjoy the festival atmosphere from the cliff-top setting.

The festival is proud to host charity stalls from three organisations that play an important role in the local community:

• Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI)
• Yorkshire Air Ambulance
• Bridlington Sea Cadets
