Kilcreggan Village

Kilcreggan is a quiet coastal village at the southern tip of the Rosneath Peninsula in Argyll and Bute, looking out across the Firth of Clyde towards Gourock and the hills of Cowal. The village grew up as a Victorian resort for Glasgow holidaymakers, and the legacy of that era is still visible in the substantial seafront villas, traditional pier and a relaxed, old-fashioned feel.

The Kilcreggan to Gourock passenger ferry sails several times a day across the Firth, making the village one of the few places in mainland Scotland still accessible by a regular small ferry service. The crossing of around 15 minutes is popular with day-trippers and offers fine views back to the Cowal hills. There is a tearoom near the pier, a village shop and quiet shore walks in both directions along the coastline.

Beyond the village, footpaths lead to Knockderry, Cove and the wider Rosneath Peninsula, with views over Loch Long and Loch Goil. Kilcreggan is a good base for walkers and birdwatchers, and the lack of through traffic gives the village a noticeably peaceful character compared with the busier resorts on the Clyde.
