About this attraction
About Farnham Park, Farnham
Farnham Park is a substantial 246-acre green space occupying the rolling parkland south of Farnham town centre. Originally laid out in the 18th century as part of a country estate, the park retains mature tree belts, open grassland and managed woodland that create a layered landscape ideal for walking and nature-watching. The River Wey flows through the southern section, adding water features and creating varied habitats within the wider park boundary. Several historical structures remain on the estate, including walls, lodges and other period features that hint at its past grandeur.
The park is crossed by a network of established footpaths offering routes from gentle strolls to longer woodland circuits. Open meadows provide space for picnicking and informal recreation, whilst mature trees offer shade on warmer days. Local residents and visiting walkers make use of the diverse habitat zones to spot birds, butterflies and small mammals; areas of wild grassland support flowering plants characteristic of unimproved pasture. The park connects to wider countryside routes, allowing visitors to extend walks beyond the estate boundary.
Farnham Park represents an important green resource within the suburban landscape, offering accessible countryside character close to the town. Its historical associations and ecological value combine to make it both a valued community space and a landscape feature of some significance to the local area.
